After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to Marangu Gate, the main entrance to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. Upon arrival, your guide will assist with registration formalities and provide a final briefing about the trek.

The adventure begins through the dense tropical rainforest on a well-maintained trail. This section is rich in wildlife and vegetation, offering opportunities to spot black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of bird species. The lush forest canopy provides shade and creates a pleasant trekking environment.

You will stop along the trail for a packed lunch before continuing toward Mandara Hut. Upon arrival, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. An optional short walk to Maundi Crater offers spectacular views of northern Tanzania and, on clear days, neighboring Kenya.

After an early breakfast, the trek continues as you leave the rainforest behind and enter the heath and moorland zone. The landscape gradually changes, revealing giant lobelias, giant groundsels, and breathtaking panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s twin peaks, Kibo and Mawenzi.

The trail steadily ascends through open terrain, allowing trekkers to appreciate the vastness of the mountain and surrounding landscapes. Along the way, your guide will explain the unique flora and geology of the mountain.

A picnic lunch is served en route before continuing to Horombo Hut. Upon arrival, you will have time to rest and acclimatize. The area around Horombo offers excellent viewpoints and opportunities for short acclimatization walks.

The route crosses the famous Saddle, a broad, barren plateau stretching between Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak. This dramatic landscape offers incredible photographic opportunities and a sense of the mountain’s immense scale.

Upon reaching Kibo Hut, the final base camp before the summit, you will receive a detailed briefing regarding the summit ascent. An early dinner is served, followed by several hours of rest to prepare for the midnight climb.
